Doch nein, die katholische Weltgemeinschaft steht Kopf. Cook erhält sogar Todesdrohungen.

Die lokale Diözese spricht gar von einem Hate Crime:

“We don’t know 100% what Mr. Cooks motivation was,” said Susan Fani a spokesperson with the local Catholic diocese. “However, if anything were to qualify as a hate crime, to us this seems like this might be it.
We just expect the University to take this seriously,” she added “To send a message to not just Mr. Cook but the whole community that this kind of really complete sacrilege will not be tolerated.”¹

Ein Priester vergleicht es mit Kidnapping (Yep, jetzt könnte man lachen, doch man verstehe den katholischen Glauben dahinter: Während diese Cracker gesegnet werden etc. verwandeln sie sich in den Leib Christi. Statt Jesus zu essen, ist Cook also mit ihm davon gelaufen.):

“It is hurtful,” said Father Migeul Gonzalez with the Diocese. “Imagine if they kidnapped somebody and you make a plea for that individual to please return that loved one to the family.”¹

Wegen den Todesdrohungen hat Cook den Keks mittlerweile zurück gebracht. Während der Sonntagsmesse liess die Kirche jedoch die Hostien von bewaffneten Polizisten bewachen.
