Obama tritt in Bushs Fussstapfen und kämpft weiter gegen die Freiheit

Barack Obama ist ein würdiger Nachfolger von George W. Bush, er betreibt weiterhin Foltergefängnisse (Guantanamo, Bagram) und will nun auch noch den Patriot Act erweitern, der offiziell zur Terrorismusbekämpfung dienen soll, de facto aber Schrecken und Entsetzen in der amerikanischen Bevölkerung auslöst und den Behörden ein Passepartout bietet, um diverse Freiheiten einzuschränken und inländische Spionage zu betreiben.

The Obama administration supports extending three key provisions of the Patriot Act that are due to expire at the end of the year, the Justice Department told Congress in a letter made public Tuesday.

Lawmakers and civil rights groups had been pressing the Democratic administration to say whether it wants to preserve the post-Sept. 11 law’s authority to access business records, as well as monitor so-called “lone wolf” terrorists and conduct roving wiretaps.

The provision on business records was long criticized by rights groups as giving the government access to citizens’ library records, and a coalition of liberal and conservative groups complained that the Patriot Act gives the government too much authority to snoop into Americans’ private lives.1

Konterterrorismus

Little Brother1 von Cory Doctorow am Lesen und sowohl an den Patriot Act2, wie auch an Bundestrojaner3 und den präventiven Abschuss von womöglich entführten Flugzeugen denkend4, so scheint es mir sehr viel wünschenswerter, das potentielle Risiko, von einem Suizidbomber ermordet zu werden (Ein Ereignis, das in etwas so wahrscheinlich ist, wie von einem Blitz getroffen zu werden.), in Kauf zu nehmen, als mich an einem Flughafen durchleuchten zu lassen oder über meine Schulter zu blicken und eine Kamera zu entdecken, die selbst die Schmutzränder unter meinen Fingernägeln für Monate auf Harddisks speichern.
